The main interests of the firm are:
1. A primary concern with context, and the reciprocal relationship between the finished work and its physical and cultural environment.
2. Research in energy efficiency, in particular, the ability of the building to respond to environmental conditions thereby minimising its dependence on non-renewable resources.
3. Innovative proposals, for both rehabilitation and development projects, which respond to contemporary and historical contexts utilising new technologies, materials and construction methodologies.
Our aim is to examine architecture from multiple vantage points whether from a specific disciplinary focus, or from a combination of spatial and physical attributes, historical analysis, political and sociological considerations or from topical issues such as emerging technologies, sustainable programs, or other creative practices.
The office portfolio comprises diverse projects varying from the formulation of master plans for large-scale development, the restoration and rehabilitation of historic palaces and residences, to the detailed design of interiors and fittings. The practice is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and was listed in the top 300 architectural firms for 2002 & 2003 and the top 100 interiors design firms for the year 2000 according to surveys carried out by the review World Architecture. The partners are members of the Maltese Chamber of Architects and Civil Engineers.
The company consists of around 55 members of staff in 3 countries (UK, Malta and Croatia), including a structural engineering team, interior designers, design architects, site and contract administrators and conservation architects. A historical researcher assists the design teams by carrying out detailed research into the historical context of any monument or site.
Our office structure and professional competencies allow us to deliver projects to a high standard within budget and within the projected time frames, whether the projects are new build or restoration, large scale developments or individual monuments.
Over the years we have collaborated with an international network of consultants (planning, structural and services consultants, project managers, marketing and other specialist consultants) through all stages of the building procurement process, from early inception and the formation of development consortia through to practical completion.
