This project aims at utilizing a spectacular historical site and its' buildings to create an urban centre that would serve to catalyze the Bormla area. Together with the insertion of contemporary interventions (primarily residential), the urban spaces around Dock 1 will receive a much needed face lift. The proposal would also provide commercial facilities that will introduce new activity to the area at all hours of the day. The dock and the surrounding buildings will provide a yacht marina and related facilities to attract visitors into the heart of the three cities. Many of the commercial outlets will cater for the yachting industry to entice yachts to harbour for extensive periods. The areas bordering the dock will be landscaped to provide leisure and retail facilities for both the locals and for visitors to the area. The proposal which will also include areas for cultural activities, aims for the regeneration of the whole of the Bormla centre from a physical and a socio-economic aspect.
